Volcanic Earth's chemical-free skin care products are made from locally-produced Virgin Coconut Oil, the amazing skin healing agent known as Tamanu Oil, Nangai Oil, Volcanic Ash and Pumice. The company sources ingredients, wherever possible, from local communities in the remote, outer islands of Vanuatu as a way of helping to provide sustainable, livelihood opportunities for Ni Vanuatu families and even whole villages, disadvantaged by distance and lack of infrastructure.
The manufacture of pure coconut oil has been an age old tradition of the Ni Vanuatu people. Volcanic Earth operates the only DME (Direct Micro Expelling) coconut oil manufacturing facility in the capital, Port Vila and then uses this same virgin coconut oil to produce everything from exotic coconut soaps to moisturisers, massage creams and even volcanic body scrubs. The coconut palm is known as “the tree of life” because virtually every part of the plant can be utilised by humans in some way from food, shelter, decoration through to weight loss, mental health and of course, the manufacture of exotic skin care products for which Volcanic Earth is known for. Our passion for coconut oil and its products even extends to our signature body treatment at the Volcanic Earth Healing Centre Day Spa, where you can be pampered, polished and moisturised with freshly crated Coconut and volcanic ash. However, the Volcanic Earth Coconut Factory came about because we could not purchase cosmetic grade virgin coconut oil here in Vanuatu. This is in spite of an abundance of coconuts (at least for our purposes). Rather than import the oil from overseas, Volcanic Earth built its own coconut oil factory. In this way we could generate income sources for disadvantaged Ni Vanuatu from the growers, pickers, delivery drivers through to those working in the factory itself.
